In a world in which working and living spaces are increasingly merging, office design is becoming more important than ever before. Spaces are no longer mere shells, they communicate. They promote creativity, increase well-being and define identity. KlebeBande, the Berlin studio for interior art, designs spaces with the aim of creating spaces that are not only beautiful, but also meaningful. And if KlebeBande has its way, this also includes modern wallpaper. But to add color to the gray everyday life, you need an individual, artistic wallpaper design.

What was still a luxury for aristocrats and the wealthy until the 19th century finally became accessible to everyone in the 1950s: Wallpaper on your own four walls.
The idea of designing walls is anything but new. Even in ancient China, hand-painted silk wallpaper was used to embellish living spaces. In Europe, wallpaper became popular from the 17th century - as an alternative to tapestries and as an expression of status. Made using elaborate block printing techniques, art wallpaper adorned walls with floral patterns, landscapes and historical scenes.
After the Second World War, wallpaper became accessible and affordable for everyone in Germany and was gratefully accepted - as many people may remember from their grandparents' homes. Wallpaper symbolized reconstruction and fulfilled the desire for a comfortable home.
Unfortunately, however, the wallpaper boom in the later 20th century turned into a woodchip uniformity. In white or beige, the simple wall covering dominated office and living spaces, functional but often monotonous.
Today, KlebeBande is recreating wallpaper and at the same time going back to its origins: it is being rethought individually and implemented with the most modern approaches. However, the focus is not on the wallpaper as a product, but on the wall as a medium for a narrative.
Abstract wallpaper with organic patterns
KlebeBande Berlin sees itself as a creative studio for interior art that designs buildings holistically. Various techniques are used: wall painting, foil applications, 3D prints and also individually designed art wallpapers. Each technique is not considered in isolation, but as part of a comprehensive concept that takes into account the architecture, use and identity of the rooms.
The strength of this approach is particularly evident in office design. The combination of different design elements creates working environments that are not only functional, but also human and mentally stimulating. KlebeBande works closely with architects, interior designers and companies to develop tailor-made solutions that bring the corporate culture to life visually.
The wallpapers are created in close collaboration, often based on the location and the ideas and feelings of the people who work there.

Whether office, hotel or home - the wallpapers are individually designed and applied to the walls with a perfect fit. In this way, they create flowing transitions between art and architecture. No repeat, no repetition. Instead: unique visual experiences that define rooms rather than decorate them.
Klebebande is always interested in using new, exciting materials and patterns for wallpapers and expanding existing ones. Shiny, iridescent starry nebulae and abstract art wallpaper are just as much a part of this as small-scale art deco wallpapers that reveal their wit in the details.
In times of New Work, hybrid forms of work and a growing awareness of spatial quality, Klebebande is in the process of reinterpreting wallpaper - not as a mass product, but as a design statement. Their site-specific wallpaper art goes far beyond individual photo wallpaper. In an overarching approach, the values of the company, the conditions of the location and the wishes of the local people are artistically incorporated into the wallpaper design. The process often starts in co-creation workshops, where all stakeholders exchange ideas and collect creative ideas. KlebeBande then incorporates these ideas into its holistic concept and decides what will become a mural, what will be a foil print and what will become an individual wallpaper.
Wallpaper with a spatial effect in the waiting area
Individual designer wallpapers offer special design possibilities:
Precision and repeatability: High-resolution designs can be applied with millimeter precision - ideal for clear grids or large statements.
Variety of materials: Depending on the room, textured, glossy or textile surfaces can be used.
Speed: Compared to freehand painting, installation is often more efficient - without compromising the effect.
Despite these advantages, KlebeBande never uses wallpaper as a stand-alone element, but always in dialog with the room and the user. This makes them a tool in a larger design toolbox.

Individually designed wallpapers were also used in the comprehensive design of a research building in Tübingen's Cyber Valley. On an impressive area of 7,000 m², with 120 walls, coherent room concepts were implemented, including lobbies, stairwells, corridors, glass surfaces, community areas and office areas. For conference rooms and social spaces, abstract wallpapers with iridescent mother-of-pearl pigments were used, among other things, which set iridescent, shimmering accents depending on the incidence of light. The motifs - stars, nebulae, abstract lidar scans and graph structures - reflect the laboratory's research themes and create an atmosphere of both vision and concentration.

During the conversion of the classic Berlin department store into a modern office building, KlebeBande was responsible for the artistic design of the rooms. Inspired by Art Deco, they developed unique patterns and structures that were precisely matched to the architecture of each floor. A highlight of the project is the specially designed wallpaper, in classic patterns with modern details that bring the historical aesthetics of the building into the present. As part of the holistic interior design of the KlebeBande, they contribute significantly to the atmospheric density of the Art Deco interior.

Wallpaper also played an important role in the office design for various office buildings on the Munich Tech Campus. The entire office was designed in an urban style inspired by geometric, abstract shapes and tape art. The abstract art wallpapers show partly supporting, partly loose structures and give the social spaces, workplaces and conference rooms of the offices a life of their own, sometimes calmly, sometimes wildly.

Customized wallpapers can have a special, powerful effect, especially in office design. They create zones without separating. They make brand identity visible without appearing flat. And they tell stories - visually, atmospherically, subtly.
A wall in the entrance area that communicates local relationships or mission statements. A back wall in the meeting room that radiates calm or stimulates discussion. Or a large-scale motif in the break room that invites a change of perspective.
KlebeBande does not think of wallpapers as simple patterns, but as visual strategies and tools in the interplay of architecture, light and use.
Lounge with artistic wallpaper design
Wallpapers have had an eventful history - from exclusive, colorful luxury goods to gray mass products. The KlebeBande shows how individual art wallpapers can be used today as a contemporary means of artistic interior design and part of a holistic concept. In combination with other techniques, it shows its true strength: as a flexible, visual tool within a larger design narrative.
With a mixture of creativity, technical precision and a deep understanding of architecture and communication, she creates spaces that tell stories.
